The first twenty years of my career were spent working with the finest minds in the San Diego scientific community. I had a wonderful time learning, teaching and wondering. I learned cutting edge techniques, discovered novel receptors and drugs and generally had a ball at the pictured institutions.

After so long in wet labs, I was finally ready for a change of pace. I spent the last year trying to apply some of what I learned in lab to the world of academic publishing. I enjoyed learning about the industry at Academic Press. While I really enjoyed the contact with an international cast of expert scientists and physicians, it wasn't an exact fit. Corporate America didn't quite offer the flexibility I need to enjoy my young sons, travel with John, etc. I will always treasure my few lovely acknowlegments because I know now what hard work goes into preparing the texts I used to take for granted.
That brings us to the present...
I'm unemployed for the first time in my adult life! I'm having a ball learning markup languages and
web development, helping in my kids' classrooms, seeing more of my parents, working on the house,
and enjoying my friends. I sleep better at night. I turn the stereo on more often. Cry less.
In time, I'll take on writing, editing and web development projects that I can do from the house.
Maybe when my kids don't have mid-week games, I'll try to climb that ladder again, but for now, I'm
pretty darn happy. If you must try to seduce me back, my resume
is available in html format.
